What is the lifespan of a solar light battery?

A solar light battery usually lasts about 3 to 8 years, and lithium or LiFePO4 solar light batteries can run even longer, often 5 to 10 years in well-designed systems. Actual life depends on chemistry (lithium > AGM/gel > older lead-acid), depth of discharge, heat, and charge control. Heavy daily cycling or high temperatures will push the battery toward the lower end of the range.

What type of battery is best for solar lights?

Lithium battery—especially LiFePO4 battery—is the best choice for solar lights because it delivers more cycles, better safety, stable voltage, and lighter weight than lead-acid, NiCd, or low-cost ternary packs. That is why most commercial and municipal solar lighting projects are moving to LiFePO4 even though the upfront price is higher; the life-cycle cost is lower and maintenance is easier for distributors and B2B buyers.
