Top 10 LiFePO4 Battery Enterprises
Statistical data shows that in the first quarter of 2023, China’s power battery installations reached 58.94 GWh, an increase of 28.8% year-on-year.
Among them, the installation of LiFePO4 batteries was 38.29 GWh, accounting for 65%, an increase of 50% year-on-year.
Compared with the same period last year, the lithium iron phosphate battery market experienced significant changes in the first quarter of this year.
In January of this year, BYD (Fudi Battery) installed 5.5 GWh of lithium iron phosphate batteries, surpassing CATL (January’s lithium iron phosphate installation of 3.6 GWh) for the first time. In February, Fudi Battery’s LiFePO4 battery installations exceeded CATL again, securing the top spot domestically for two consecutive months.
The top 10 lithium iron phosphate battery installation companies are: BYD, CATL, Guoxuan High-tech, Zhongchuang New Voyage, EVE Energy, Honeycomb Energy, RuiPu Energy, Xinwangda, Penghui Energy, and DFD.

LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: BYD
BYD’s iron lithium battery installations reached 17.58 GWh in the first quarter, ranking first domestically.
Fudi Battery’s significant increase in installations was mainly driven by the significant growth in production and sales of BYD new energy vehicles. In the first quarter, BYD’s new energy vehicle sales reached 552,100 units, once again topping the domestic market.
In terms of external supply, only a small proportion of FAW (Hongqi), Dongfeng, and BAIC are supported.
Currently, BYD is still accelerating the release of battery production capacity. Data shows that in 2022, BYD’s total power battery production capacity, including completed and under construction, was about 286 GWh, and the total capacity plan for 2023 could reach 396 GWh.
With the expansion of its overseas territory, BYD’s overseas production bases have been put on the agenda. It is reported that BYD is exploring the establishment of its own factory in Europe, possibly landing its first battery factory.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: CATL
In Q1, CATL’s LiFePO4 battery installations reached 14.78 GWh, supporting more than 270,000 vehicles, with major customers including Tesla, Changan, Hozon, FAW, Great Wall, Chery, Dongfeng, GAC, and other mainstream car companies.
Among them, Tesla remains CATL’s largest customer. According to statistics, in the first quarter, CATL’s iron lithium batteries supported 118,203 Tesla vehicles, with a total installation capacity of 7.09 GWh.
In addition, the Hengchi 5 also uses CATL’s iron lithium batteries, with a total of 554 vehicles.
Currently, with the combination of the lithium iron phosphate system, CATL’s Kirin battery system energy density can reach 160 Wh/kg, and the battery pack integration is the highest in the world.
It is worth noting that CATL’s “iron lithium + ternary” AB battery system has been installed in NIO’s products, and then using the “lithium battery + sodium battery” AB battery system, extending to 500 km mainstream models, and the sodium-ion battery will be first introduced in Chery’s related models, with the potential to replace some lithium iron phosphate applications in the future.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: Guoxuan High-tech
From January to March, Guoxuan High-tech’s LiFePO4 battery installations reached 2.3 GWh, ranking third, supplying batteries to Changan, BAIC, Chery, Leap Motor, Geely, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Great Wall, and many other car companies, with a total of nearly 80,000 vehicles.
Among them, Guoxuan’s batteries provided 12,350 sets of power batteries for Geely New Energy’s Panda mini in March, providing an important guarantee for new car deliveries and sales growth.
Guoxuan began supplying batteries for the Panda mini in October 2022. As of the end of March this year, Guoxuan High-tech has successively delivered nearly 30,000 sets of batteries to Geely, with a single month supply of 12,350 sets in March.
Following the release of production capacity and sales growth, Guoxuan’s battery is expected to supply more than 120,000 sets to Geely throughout the year. It is estimated that by 2024, Guoxuan’s battery supply to Geely’s new energy vehicles will have the potential to exceed 400,000 sets.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: Zhong Chuangxinhang
Zhong Chuangxinhang’s LiFePO4 battery installation volume in Q1 was 2.07 GWh, ranking 4th, with its main customers being GAC, Chery, Geely, SAIC-GM-Wuling, etc. In Q1, Zhong Chuangxinhang has provided lithium iron phosphate batteries for 27,000 GAC passenger cars.
On April 23, Zhong Chuangxinhang’s OS LiFePO4 battery was mass-produced at its Jiangmen base in Guangdong. The battery features a short-blade rectangular form factor, with a system energy density of 153 Wh/kg.
Wang Xiaoqiang, vice president of Zhong Chuangxinhang, said that this is the highest energy density LiFePO4 battery produced in the industry. Battery energy density is a critical factor in determining the driving range of new energy vehicles, and the models equipped with this OS lithium iron phosphate battery can achieve a range of 600 km.
Wang Xiaoqiang revealed that the newly launched Hyper GT from GAC Aion will be the first mass-produced model equipped with the OS lithium iron phosphate battery, which is expected to hit the market in the second quarter of this year. In addition to this model, several other models equipped with this battery are expected to be released successively.
By then, the installation volume and ranking of Zhong Chuangxinhang’s domestic LFP batteries are expected to rise further.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: EVE Energy
From January to March, EVE Energy’s LiFePO4 battery installation volume was 0.83 GWh, ranking 5th in China, mainly supporting Xpeng, Hozon, GAC, JAC, and other automakers.
Currently, EVE Energy is a representative company taking the route of large cylindrical and iron-lithium batteries, namely square stacked products and 46 series large cylindrical products. Once large cylindrical batteries are mass-produced this year, EVE Energy will accelerate the introduction of innovative nickel + silicon-carbon material systems in 46 large cylindrical products for mid-to-high-end passenger car models.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: Honeycomb Energy
From January to March, Honeycomb Energy’s LiFePO4 battery installation volume was 0.39 GWh, ranking 6th in China, including Great Wall, Dongfeng, Leap Motor, Hozon, and other models.
Recently, Honeycomb Energy debuted its Dragon Scale Armor battery for the first time. According to reports, through a series of integrated space and system structure design, the Dragon Scale Armor battery system with lithium iron phosphate battery cells has an efficiency of 76%, a range of over 800 km, setting a new industry record.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: Rui Pu Lan Jun
In the first quarter, Rui Pu Lan Jun’s LiFePO4 battery achieved an installation volume of 0.26 GWh, ranking 7th, supplying batteries for SAIC-GM-Wuling, Dongfeng, Leap Motor, and Yundu Auto, among others.
On April 18, Rui Pu Lan Jun’s 158Ah and 200Ah “Wending” batteries debuted at the 2023 Shanghai International Auto Show. Hou Min, vice president of Rui Pu Lan Jun, announced that the 158Ah Wending battery has been put into mass production.
It is reported that the general technology of Rui Pu Lan Jun’s Wending battery can make lithium iron phosphate batteries have a range of over 700 km, ternary nickel batteries have a range of over 1,000 km, and high-nickel ternary power batteries have the potential to exceed 1,200 km.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise:Xinwangda
In the first quarter, Xinwangda’s LiFePO4 battery achieved an installation volume of 0.26 GWh, ranking 8th in China, supporting Dongfeng, Xpeng, Jiangling, and other automakers. Among them, Xinwangda provides battery cells for the Xpeng G3 model.
Currently, Xinwangda’s lithium iron phosphate battery cells have achieved 200 Wh/kg, ranking at the forefront of the industry in terms of energy density.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: Penghui Energy
From January to March, Penghui Energy’s LiFePO4 battery installation volume was 0.07 GWh, mainly supporting passenger car companies such as Chery and SAIC-GM-Wuling.
In the field of power batteries, the company focuses on the lithium iron phosphate technology route while also considering the ternary technology route. At present, the focus of Penghui’s lithium iron phosphate batteries has shifted to the energy storage field. Penghui Energy has multiple production bases in Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Zhumadian, Changzhou, Liuzhou, Foshan, and Quzhou.
In terms of capacity under construction, Penghui Energy has two major projects about to be put into production this year. One is located in the northern ecological new area of Liuzhou City, where Penghui will build a smart energy storage and power battery manufacturing base, mainly focusing on lithium battery cells and PACK production lines. The project has a planned capacity of 20 GWh, with the first phase of 5.5 GWh already completed and put into production, and the second phase of 5 GWh to be put into production in 2023.
The other project is located in the Zhejiang Quzhou Intelligent Manufacturing City, where Penghui will build a 20 GWh energy storage battery project. The first phase of the 10 GWh project is expected to be put into production in the second half of 2023.
In April of this year, Penghui Energy announced a new construction project worth over 7 billion yuan. The company plans to build a 21 GWh energy storage battery project in Zhejiang Quzhou Intelligent Manufacturing City, with a total investment of about 7 billion yuan. The project is scheduled to start construction by the end of June 2023 and be completed and put into production by the end of December 2026.
At the same time, Penghui Energy’s wholly-owned subsidiary plans to invest in the construction of the “Henan Penghui Large-scale Energy Storage Lithium-ion Battery Production Line Construction Project,” with a total investment of about 300 million yuan.
LiFePO4 Battery Enterprise: DuoFluoDuo
From January to March, DuoFluoDuo’s LiFePO4 battery installation volume reached 0.06 GWh, mainly supplying batteries for SAIC-GM-Wuling and Chery, with battery production capacity provided by DuoFluoDuo’s Ningfu Company in Guangxi.
It is understood that the DuoFluoDuo project has recently resumed production at full capacity. The project covers an area of about 500 acres and is divided into three phases of construction. The first and second phases have a planned capacity of 5 GWh/year, and the third phase has a planned capacity of 10 GWh/year, with a total investment of 10.2 billion yuan.
The first phase has been put into production, and the second phase is currently undergoing civil construction planning, which will be completed within this year. The main capacity is lithium batteries, with some flexibility reserved for possible conversion to sodium-ion batteries in the future.
