Symbotic, a leading provider of AI-enabled warehouse automation systems, has announced that it is integrating new high-power batteries from UK-based Nyobolt into its SymBot autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). The new power modules are designed to replace existing ultracapacitor-based packs and significantly increase runtime, flexibility, and system reliability in high-throughput distribution centers.

According to the official announcement from Symbotic and Nyobolt, Nyobolt’s technology delivers up to six times more usable energy than the ultracapacitors currently used in SymBot robots, while reducing power-module weight by around 40%. At the same time, the new packs offer a cycle life that is reported to be at least ten times higher than conventional lithium-ion systems used in many industrial fleets today.
For large, highly connected warehouse networks, this means each robot battery can support more missions per charge, longer teleoperation windows, and greater travel distance between dockings. In practice, operators can target higher throughput and more flexible task scheduling without proportionally increasing fleet size.
Symbotic has already begun limited use of the Nyobolt solution in production systems from June 2025, with full adoption planned for all new SymBot units from September 2025. The new packs are designed to be retrofit-compatible with previous SymBot generations and to work with the existing charging infrastructure at customer sites, reducing the need for costly power-system overhauls.
Nyobolt: fast-charging batteries move from lab to warehouse floor
Nyobolt is a battery technology company spun out of research at the University of Cambridge, focused on ultra-fast charging, high-power cells for mission-critical applications.
